ETS® Proficiency Profile

Important: Make sure to write your professor’s email address in the space provided on Step 13. If you’re taking the ETS® Proficiency Profile for two courses, write down both professors’ email addresses separated by a comma.

Step 1: Please print this instruction page to refer to while taking the ETS® Proficiency Profile. (You won’t be able to access these instructions online once you’ve started the ETS® Proficiency Profile.)

Step 2: Close all open applications except Internet Explorer or Safari (if using a MAC) before accessing the site. * Turn off or disable all pop-up blockers. (If a pop-up blocker is on, it will interfere with the “Help” button on the ETS® Proficiency Profile.)

Step 3: Ensure that your computer and operating system meet the minimum requirements. * Browse to the ETS® Proficiency Profile Login page at http://proficiencyprofile.ets.org. * Click on the link to Run ETS® Proficiency Profile System Check. * Follow the instructions to fix any issues indicated during the System Check.

Step 4: The ETS® Proficiency Profile is timed, so please set aside two and a half hours to complete the background questions and tutorial. If you don’t complete the ETS® Proficiency Profile in the designated time, a message box will display and the profile will be scored automatically.
