When a person puts someone else’s needs before their own, both people feel joy. It’s so hard for people to do genuine deeds if they know no one will see them do it. Millennials especially think they need the attention or praise for doing something for others. People constantly look at their lives and see what they can change or how to be better; being better in their book means trying to have the latest fashion trends, new popular website account or driving the newest car. They are never content because they are in love with temporary things of this life and not in love with something more eternal. In the story, The World on a Turtle’s Back, the woman left all she knew and started a new life by herself. Accepting someone seems so easy, yet people find it so hard to do. Someone wouldn’t guess that she is so broken because she is good at faking it. She’s faked it so long it’s become the norm. However faking it isn’t fixing it. Eventually the distress builds up and she has two options: fight or flight. Nobody should judge someone unless they have walked a mile in their shoes. Judgement thoroughly hits when someone has an unexpected event in their life that is not socially acceptable. Acceptance is the main problem here because no one is doing it. Let others do what they want. Let them believe in what they want. Other people’s opinions don’t matter. In the sermon by Jonathon Edwards, said that God is angry with His people and “Thus easy is it for God when he pleases to cast his enemies down to hell” (Edwards, 120).
