Every week, Eugeniusz would hid the food for the jews in the bales of hay, also filled water barrels with fresh water. Soon after bernard and Lola arrived, Eugeniusz made plans to hid Bernards brother, sister-in-law, and sala's brother. Eugeniusz traveled thirty kilometers by foot and train each way to Krakow to bring the three jews to the hiding place. Eugeniusz protected the family until 1945. After Bernard and his wife Lola came the Chucherko's knew they needed to help.
Even when the Feilers ran out of money, the Chucherko's still shared with them what they had. In 1954 Eugeniusz was forced out of the polish army for hiding jews during the war. Eugeniusz rescued a total of five jews during the war. Eugeniusz and his family protected the jews until liberation in 1945.
