Work in your group and discuss the followings:
Basic information
The figure demonstrates the five distinct phases of the cell cycle: G0, in which cells are resting or quiescent; G1, in which cells undergo RNA and protein synthesis necessary for entry in to S-phase; S-phase, in which cells undergo DNA replication; G2, in which cells undergo RNA and protein synthesis in preparation for mitosis; and M-phase, in which cells undergo mitosis and cytokinesis.
You are studying the effects of two chemicals (T and N) towards the cell cycle progression using flow cytometer. Briefly, the vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) were treated with T and N as stated in Table 1.
Table 1 shows the percentage of cells in each cell cycle phase following treatment with T or N into VSMC. Control

Flow cytometric analysis
From then data, answer the following questions:
1. Would you predict that cells treated with T or N are arrested in the cell cycle at various stages (G1, S, G2, or M), or do you predict that cells will be blocked at a particular stage? If you think cells will be blocked at a particular stage, describe the stage at which you think the cells would be blocked.
a. T
b. N
2. Which of the treatment (hour) is effective towards the function of N and state your justifications.
3. Propose a simple molecular explanation for how N acts.
4. What will happen if treatment N is prolonged for 48 h?
5. Discuss one possible outcome for the cell cycle if T is removed from the culture medium after 12 h.
