Eulogy for Simon
Well, what can I say about Simon. Every one of us here, present today in this memorial, are aware of how such a good person he exerted to be in his short life. I looked up to him, he was like a coach to me, I thought that it was almost impossible for such a pure spirit to be present, and it did; and it was my best companion. He taught me many lessons, which I know they will help me throughout life, and since the day we met I could see a future connection between us. He was one of the best buddies I ever had. Simon was a shy, sensitive boy which made him unique. He was always willing to work for the good of his community. Having a spiritual human goodness that was deeply connected with nature made him so lovable. His name, which means "he whom God has heard," signifies the depth of his spirituality and centrality to the novel's Judeo-Christian allegory. Whenever there was a chance to help someone he took an extra step to do so. The one thing I remember the most about him was his skinny, vivid little body with straight, coarse black hair. In the wind his hair shifted back ever so lightly, making it look longer.
We met on a rainy day at recess when the other kids were bullying me. I was being kicked around like a hacky sack not knowing what was happening. After I finally got loose I ran to somewhere safe and the next thing I saw was him, Simon. When he saw me crying, he brought the joy back to me. He said encouraging stuff, like “You do know that the only reason they are bullying you is because they have been bullied themselves. If you ignore them for some quite time they will forget all about you. Hey, why don’t you spend lunch with me tomorrow?” Me slowly lifting me head said “sure.” That day forward I spent every day eating lunch with him, laughing and having a great time. Every day was a new adventure with him not knowing what was going to come next.
Every Sunday we went to church together praising the lord. One

The second character trait Simon possesses is that he is devotedly faithful. He is an enormous believer of God and loves sharing his faith with other people. This is proven during various conversations with Reverend Russell and his best friend, Joe Wenteworth. When Simon is talking to the reverend, he suggests that God made him the way he is for a reason and says, “I think I'm God's instrument - that he's gonna use me to carry out his plan.” The last occurrence when Simon is faithful happens when is continually encouraging Joe to be joyful. Simon claims, “Your problem is that you have no faith.” Joe responds, “I got faith. I just need proof to back it up.” Joe is more of a pessimist and practical person therefore Simon is there hence he can cause Joe be further positive.…

It is a pleasure to nominate Dave Giles for the "Most Outstanding Person" award. He is a former alumni of Carl Sandburg College. My first impression of Dave came in 2012 when he gave hands-down the best speech on the importance of education that I had ever heard. He truly enjoys spending his time helping the community's youth. He has also continued to live up to that impression of being a passionate man who is optimistic, supporting, and is as committed to children as he is to bettering our society.…

In the movie there were two kinds of feeling about Simon. One was that he was inspirational, the narrator. Or annoying, the Priest. There are many reasons why people found him inspirational. For example Simon helped the narrator find out who his father was, since his mom died prior to telling him. Also it was Simon’s faith in God that people were always baffled about.…

Simon is an overall really kind person who always thinks of others, and it respectable. In part II of the movie, the hunters finally killed the pig, and after a while of not eating, they could finally enjoy a meal. Everyone got to eat besides Piggy, and when Piggy asked for food, Jack sternly told him no. Simon offered his part of the pig to Piggy, and he accepted. Simon shows how sincere he is in part II of the movie. After the assembly about whether or not there is a ghost, Jack went against the rules and split up from Ralph because he was angry that Ralph opposed going after the beast. Ralph wanted to give up on being chief, but Simon decided to stay back with him and encourage Ralph not to give up on being the leader. Hello. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Gene Forrester. I was Phineas’ roommate and best friend. We are here today to pay tribute to and celebrate Finny’s remarkable life. Truth be told, writing this speech was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. It wasn’t challenging because I knew too little about Finny to share, but because I knew too much. I knew Phineas better than anyone else; we were constant companions. We were two parts of one whole and the more I got to know Finny the more proud I became to be his friend. He was talented, virtuous, joyful, and so much more. It is a tragedy that a person as young and precious as Finny has been taken so soon. Finny affected us all in ways we can’t even imagine.…

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew 5:3). This beatitude was practiced by Simon throughout the movie and was shown through his thoughts, words, actions and deeds. Many who experience this beatitude feel that they have no moral riches and are in need, whereas Simon had faith which kept him going. Jesus says that, no matter your status in life, you must recognize your spiritual poverty before you can come to God in faith to receive the salvation he offers. Simon Birch is an example of a person who became closer with God because of his immense faith in him.…

Good morning friends, family and all those of you who are here today to celebrate the life of a great man, Victor Chang. Unlike McMurphy, Simon does not revel his isolation and instead chooses to isolate himself further by wandering into the forest wilderness and away from the rest of the group. Simon’s seizures and shyness lead to the other older boys ignoring him when he does try to talk at their meetings, even though Simon has the most insightful thoughts out of any of them. In addition to being the most insightful, Simon also experiences an altered perception of reality when he imagines “. . . Lord of the Flies was expanding like a balloon. . . blackness within, a blackness that spread” (Golding,143-144).When Simon walks out of the forest with the body of the dead parachutist, the boys, in a social gathering of their own, immediately kill him. By not joining the other boys in the feast, Simon highlights his social isolation. This eventually leads to his death. All of the rest of the young boys, including Ralph and Piggy take part in the feast. The only boy missing is Simon, further exemplifying to what extent his social isolation reached. In this fatal feast, which Simon does not partake in, the others brutally murder him, mistaking him for the beast. Simon’s social ostracization and therefore isolation from the other boys eventually leads to his savage murder proving that when Simon is not part of the norm, because of his frequent…

Simon is usually a very calm person who has the touch of understanding people. When Simon gets mad or frustrated he pulls himself out of the situation and takes a breather. He doesn’t like being in an argument and understands the importance of rules - “We need an assembly to put things straight” he suggests, helping the boys to settle down. Simon’s brilliance shows more to him than people know. He helps calm down Ralph, who is the leader of the tribe; he creates a temporary peace between Ralf and Jack, as well as he is always willing to help littluns. This young person understands what people are going through. Simon’s maturity makes him different than the rest of the boys, so he ends up separating from them and concentrating on his inner world and his own personal issues. More than others he realizes the importance of rescue: “Don’t you want to be rescued?” Simon wonders, not gaining an appropriate reaction from the rest of the boys. Throughout the whole beginning of the novel this young character attempts to help the others and emphasize the importance of cooperation and being civil with one another. As he was not able to affect the rest of the accident victims,…

Tessie Hutchinson is my name. I'll be writing my own eulogy in case my name gets called for The Lottery. If you ask me, the tradition of The Lottery should continue on. I believe that if the tradition were to be excluded, consequently, the relationships that the villagers have towards each other could shatter because of the fear of change we have. The natural resistance that our village has towards change is also included. Moreover, it is inconceivable for us villagers to change or stop the tradition. Therefore, I conclude that the tradition of The Lottery should continue on.…

I have always loved working with children. I’m always the first to offer to babysit and the whole family knows they can leave their kids with me. I have worked with one little boy for almost 3 years. His name is Alex and there is something that makes him unique. Alex is autistic. I started to work with him when he was only 4 years old. When I first started working with him, he did not communicate well. If he wanted something he would yell or point, but he did not know enough to ask for what he wanted. He would constantly have accidents because he did not understand the concept of going to the toilet. Today, if I asked him what he wanted he would answer me with almost a complete sentence. Through working with him I have learned to celebrate…
