Joshua Kyle Jackson was born on February 4, 1998 in Chicago, Il to Hugh Ray Jackson,Jr and Carlette Sibley. His mother was a single mother raising two kids, him and little sister, Michaela. In Chicago, he went to Avalon Park Elementary School from kindergarten to the third quarter of 5th grade. In Spring 2010, him, his mother and little sister moved to Champaign-Urbana for great education and due to problems with the landlord they were living with. During the 4th quarter of 5th grade, he attended Kenwood Elementary School and graduated and went on to middle school, high school, and college experience. He became a sociologist and writer after college, receiving a PhD in Sociology and a Masters in Music in English.
Career and Personal Life During the course of his writing career, he wrote on personal experiences and real issues in the world, more on the black community. One of his articles, “Social Rejection:The Joshua Kyle Jackson Story”, was talking about his experience in middle school where he thought about killing himself and how he wasn't “fitting in” in middle school. He also reflected on the reflected on the experiences in high school like calling himself a loser, accepting the fact that was a loser during middle and high school. Also, another piece of writing, “3 Characteristics of Black Men: Crime, Sports, and Entertainment”, the main idea was that more black men were either in jail, playing sports (primarily basketball and football), or in the music industry (rapping primarily). When published, he had lots of comments that were negative saying that he was ‘bashing” black men, that he was a self hater, and he was a Uncle Tom. Joshua responded in a CNN interview stating: “If I was an Uncle Tom, I would kissing up to white people every time I write an essay and/or article, but I’m talking about black people because we as a generation has fallen lower than the Recession in 2007.
