Dear Mr. de Gucht
I am concerned about the economic market situation in the third world. We all know that a part of the agricultural products produced in the EU are subsidized with EU money. The money provides a basic salary for the farmers: no matter what happens, they will get their money from the EU for producing the products. The problem is: what do we do with all the products that do not get sold, like milk? We warm it up, the powder that stays in the big cans is milk powder and this we dump in Nigeria and other African countries to ''help the development of the country''. Actually we totally mess up the market situation because the local milk farmers can't sell their product and go bankrupt and then they are dependent on the help of the western countries.
We are destroying the economy of these countries. We destroy their whole future economy. There are many people who want to start up a business but can not because, when the EU ‘’help food’’ arrives; there is no need for the well known local farmers products. Here is a simple math quiz: you are a poor woman with a child and you have $1.25 to feed your household.. Will you buy the locally produced milk for 20 cents or will you prefer EU milk for 10 cents both per litre? Of course you will choose the cheapest one because money is scarce. If the EU didn’t flood the market, the local farmers would have many people asking for milk and maybe they could increase their production. Which means that the economy is developing. After a while, the prices will decrease because of more production. That means, more people will end successful without any of the EU.
I hope there will not be any ‘’help products’’ sent to Africa and other poor countries anymore. We could make some small lending organizations to push people starting their own business and
