AP US History is jam-packed with information about our past…all our past, from pre-Columbian civilizations to the election of Barack Obama. We will “push” through over five hundred years of American History, and hopefully have a little fun while we’re doing it. We’ll find many American historical figures to admire, and we’ll find plenty of others to despise too. Our past is not always pretty, but we will study it all. In order to get off to a running start, and in light of the fact that we start school in New York later than many schools around the nation, we must begin our study during the summer months.
Your enrollment in Advanced Placement U.S. History for the 2014-2015 school year signals the beginning of an exciting journey. The course often presents students with a significant academic challenge. However, based upon your efforts, I am confident that you will be successful and expect that it will prove to be a rewarding experience.
You will be expected to work hard, read at home, and be prepared every day to participate and become actively involved in the process. Do not fall behind!!!
All work on this summer project for AP US History must be complete by the first day of class. Please do not wait for the last minute to do this project. The first step in the process is the completion of the summer reading and note-taking requirement (which has THREE parts—reading, questions, essay)
A. Books- I highly recommend buying the books because it will allow you to mark the book up with your own writings. Both books can be found online at amazon, staples, valorebooks, and Barnes and Nobles. Feel free to find the cheapest one out there!!
