- Inspector Google (Socialist)
Inspector Google is showing to the everyone (and the audience) that there are millions of working class people that are expriencing a similar life style of Eva Smith, that are 'still left with us'.
'Look, Inspector - I'd give thousands - yes, thousands of shellings'
- Mr Burling (When she's alive, he doesn't do any action or gives a thought about Eva Smith, nor neither give a sign of notice about donating a thousand of shellings to Eva. This also shows that Mr Burling would donatethousands of shellings instead of two that Eva Smith requested and fighted for.
'Well done, you've secured your future' …show more content…
- Mrs Burling to Shelia Burling (Possible that marrying a rich successful male will secure Shelia's future, as Gerald has money, which will secures Shelia's future) It's unknown on what Mrs Burling is saying.
At the end, olders don't change, yet, youngers do change; at the end, the elders don't feel responsible or, yet, feel gulity or charged with responsibility of Eva Smith's death, on the other hand, the younger generation feels the oppisite way of how the elders think and act.
'The Germans don't want war. Nobody wants war...' - Mr Burling - Dramatic Irony Use - ****
In 1945, where Inspector Calls was published, World War II had ended, which, the quote uses Dramatic Irony as the audience in 1945 is well aware of the World War II.
When Eva Smith is confirmed not to be dead in Act 3, the whole family seems to forget about Eva Smith, and doesn't take action or help about the current effects and the current life style of Eva Smith; they only care if Eva Smith was dead.
'Mommy' - Shelia Burling
Shelia is reffered and is treated and known to be a child infront of her parents, where Shelia has to refer her mother as 'Mommy' as if she was a child. Mr Burling also asks Shelia to leave while Inspector Goole declines and prefers Shelia to stay, when Shelia is told about the death of Eva Smith; this is also evidence of Shelia being treated like a
child.
'... bit more spirit than others' - Eric
This shows that Eric agress and has a understanding of why Eva was fighting for 2 more shellings, but yet, doesn't understand and agrees on the reason she had been sacked for having a 'bit more spirit than others'.
