First of all, Hong Kong government introduces residential services for these victims in order to protect the married women victims from physically hurts. The government sets up five refuge centers such as Wai On Home for Women, Harmony House, to provide both immediate residential services for these victims to against physically hurts (Social Welfare Department, 2011). For example, the Harmony House provides refuge services such as supply 65 temporary accommodations to battered women so as to help them distance from aggressions. A total of 179 women were admitted, occupying 100% of shelter capacity most of the time (Harmony House, 2011). Therefore, Hong Kong government offered a place for married women victims to accommodate when they are in the risk of domestic violence.
Secondly, Women can avoid immediate danger of violence by accommodating in the refuge centers. For some serious cases, women who are being abused can seek help from social worker. The social worker will refer the victims’ cases to the Social Welfare Department and arrange them to accommodate in the refuge centers. After that, married women victims can get the physical protection from the refuge centers. It shows that residential services can help the victims to get away from aggressions and danger immediately.
Thirdly, even the married women victims have economic difficulties, they can also apply the refuges which are free of charge. Some victims are afraid to expose their situations
