Causes and Effect of Eve Teasing in Bangladesh
Introduction: There are many problems that people of Bangladesh are facing these days rooting from economy, politics, corruption etc. However, it has also been facing many social problems which are kept out of awareness until it gets big as an issue. Eve teasing is one of them. Thesis Statement: Throughout this term paper I would like to give an effort to provide a brief discussion over the eve teasing issue in Bangladesh starting from its origin, causes, and expansion to its effects and remedy. Origin: Many people consider the term eve teasing as rooting from the word eve which literally means early. So it is generally concluded that eve teasing means teasing girls who are at their early age of youth or at the early stage of their sexual growth. However, the fact is, the term does originates from the word eve but it actually refers to our first mother Eve from whom we human kind came from. So Eve Teasing means to tease girls, at any age, who hold the characteristics of Eve or of a mother. Definition Eve teasing is a euphemism used in Bangladesh for sexual harassment or molestation of women by men. Considered a growing problem throughout the subcontinent,eve teasing ranges in severity from sexually colored remarks to outright groping. Some guidebooks to the region warn female tourists that eve teasing may be avoided by wearing conservative clothing, though eve teasing is reported both by Bangladesh women and by conservativelydressed foreign women.
