2 Event or Party Planner
Abstract The object of this paper is to discuss Party/Event Planning as a career. This paper will include all areas pertinent to becoming a professional Event Planner. I chose this topic because it was suggested in the lesson plans that we consider writing about our current or future career environment. I am majoring in Business Management and hoping one day to open my own Party Planning business. I want to enjoy the freedom of being my own boss while making people happy.
3 Event or Party Planner
Thesis Statement Planning and producing memorable events take creativity, design, organization, and a certain set of skills to produce a spectacular show.
I love decorating cakes, face painting, photography, and planning parties. I think life should be about having fun and more than anything, I want a career that allows that fun to over flow into my job. Nothing would give me more pleasure than a job that would allow me to use my creativity to organize memorable events for others. The most rewarding thing is to see the surprise, appreciation, and smiles on people’s faces when you do nice things for them. Event planning can be a rewarding career. “The special events industry has grown enormously in the past decade. According to recent research conducted by Dr. Joe Goldblatt, CSEP (Certified Special Events Professional), spending for special events worldwide is $500 billion annually.” (Kennedy) Who wouldn’t want a piece of that reward? I have lost count of the times I have heard my friends say they paid a planner a pretty hefty chunk of money to plan their wedding receptions. Party or event planners usually plan all sorts of parties and events from private to corporate. Those events can range from fund raisers, birthday parties, wedding receptions, and retirement parties to corporate promotions. Event
