One major event leading up to World War one was the signing and agreement of the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles was one of the peace treaties at the end of World War I. It ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers. It saw that Germany paid war reparations to cover civilian damage caused during the war. The treaty of Versailles was signed on 28 June 1919 in the hope that world peace would be held. Another important event was the German invasion of Poland. When Germany invaded Poland, France and Britain declared war on Germany and the Second World War had begun. Also a deciding factor of the beginning of WWII was Hitler becoming president of Germany.
