Everyday Use Maggie's Strengths And Weaknesses
People are people no matter when or where they live, they still have the same problems Alice Walker reveals Maggie’s character by revealing her actions, strengths and weaknesses and priorities. In the story “Everyday Use”

First, the story shows Maggie’s actions. Maggie is shy around her sister because she mistreats her. According to the story “Maggie will be nervous until her sister goes” (109). That lets the reader know that Maggie gets nervous around her sister. The fire changed something in Maggie, and she is not confident anymore. According to the story “She has been like this, chin on the ground and feet in a shuffle” (110). That lets the reader know that she is shy and not confident. Maggie does not want to be around Dee because she fears her. According to the story “Maggie attempts to dash for the house in her shuffle ways. This lets the reader know that she fears dee. Throw Maggie’s action, this lets the reader know Maggie is shy.

One of Maggie’s weaknesses is that she is insecure. According to the story “She knows she is not bright, like good looks and money” (111). This lets the reader know that Maggie thinks she is unattractive. One of Maggie’s strengths is that she can read. According to the story “Sometimes Maggie reads to me she stumbles along well and naturally” (111). This lets the reader know that Maggie is smart. Another of Maggie’s weaknesses is that Maggie can’t stand up for herself. According to the story, Dee had the quilt and Mama tried to take it from Dee instead of Maggie (115).
