'Everything Is Meaningless, Like Chasing The Wind'
I am committed to this calling, no matter the sacrifice. For it has taken me 30 years plus to learn that no one, nor myself, have the right answers to bring out peace, security or happiness in their own lives.

Like others, I tried to find and fill it through family, friends, lovers, academics, myself and career. But I have finally found wisdom in the wise words of King Soloman - "everything is meaningless, like chasing the wind" (Ecclesiastes 1:14). For one can gain wealth, power and prestige, but "what do people get for all their hard work under the sun?" (Ecclesiastes 1:3) It all mounts down to one thing, it is like chasing the wind (Ecclesiastes 1:17).

My Pastor, David Chadwick said something today that brought me to tears. He quoted from Mark

I've given up everything - my professional pursuits, my search for greater wisdom, lesbianism, walked away from many friendships - all in pursuit of one man - Jesus Christ.

Then Pastor asked this question to the congregation as he quoted Peter in response to his sacrifices. "What will we get?" (Matthew 19:27) I never give any thought to such question before, but now I am pondering it. "Father! What do I get?"

It made me realize, after all is said and done, that I could lose many family members. Simply because of my willingness to be faithful to Christ - because I have agreed to fulfill my commission by writing this book, Surrendering: A Blueprint of My Life. It was at that moment, it was like Christ himself came down from his throne and spoke directly to me as my Pastor read these words at Mark 10:29, 30. "Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life"

“Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:22 (NKJV). I heard the question asked last night. “What rewards your life?” The answer was; to deeply appreciate those, who love you by loving them back. That’s what life is all about. You can ruin your life by desensitizing yourself. We are all afraid to say too much, feel too deeply, to let people know just how much they mean to us. But not God, in fact, we find in this verse how much He loves us. Many of us have a mental picture of what a Christian should be. Yet many of us don’t make ourselves vulnerable enough to fully narrow all our interests until our mind, heart, and body are completely focused and looking at…

There is temptation in both the troughs and the peaks of life, but our Father also uses them to draw us closer to Him. During our peaks, we feel great and can be tempted to forget our desperate need for God and become apathetic and think we have everything under control. However, during these great seasons, we are not to let our guard down. We are to stand firm and give thanks for today.…

    Ralph Waldo Emerson Quote

Ralph Waldo Emerson once stated, "Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow." I've read the statement over and over in my head and I can't seem to agree with him because of my literal comprehension of the quote. If you have been able to master something in the first place, don't you have to grow from somewhere to get there? Personally, I have yet to master a particular thing in my hobbies and sports. Yet, I still feel as I am growing in those activities. For example track; I excel in the 100 meter sprint and I've been given a natural gift for it yet I haven't mastered it like Usain Bolt or Tyson Gay. Though I still feel as I am honestly growing as an athlete in the event. I also have a passion for photography…

“I have never seen a man look and smile, sit and walk like that, he thought. I, also, would like to look and smile, sit and walk like that, so free, so worthy, so restrained, so candid, so childlike and mysterious. A man only looks and walks like that when he has conquered his Self. I also will conquer my Self.” (Siddhartha pg.35) Siddhartha's goal throughout this book is to conquer himself and become one with nature. This path takes him from living rich like a king to being humbled as a poor river worker. These are the two contradictory ways he lived in his life.…

When I read this phrase it picked up my attention right away because I am a true believer that God always help us and never is going to leave us alone but, at the same time, I believe it is our job to be smart and choose the best choice. When I was 18 years old, God opened a door so I came to United States to play Soccer and to get a scholarship. Before that opportunity, I was not very close from Christ and never went to church and read the bible very often. Being here, I meet great people, the family that I stay with help me to get closer to God and I started going every Sunday to church and reading the bible more often. Since that moment, God is more present in my life and working through my life showing me His intimate love. With Christ being in my heart, my life has grown stronger and I try to follow His way the best that I can. The NIV of Proverbs 3:5-6 states, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; acknowledge Him and He will make you path straight.”…

    Celtic Landscapes

The research for this presentation, and ultimately, the essay for this subject will be based on the different ways that the landscapes were represented during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century throughout Britain. Defining the term ‘Celtic landscape’ is integral to the understanding of the subject. Much like the term ‘borders’ that we came across earlier in the term, landscape is a constructed term, borders are created by identities: regional identities and national identities, much the same way as landscapes are depicted and represented by certain elements. Not only are landscapes based on the topography of a certain area, by its mountains, lakes, or valleys, but they are also affected by cultural representation. The period in which these representations were most prevalent, and in which much of the reading list is based is later on in the early modern period. However, the influences of these accounts, in some respects, remained through to the modern period. Poetry, fiction and non-fictional stories, art, music, tourist materials and later on, photographs and film were all responsible for the way in which landscapes were being represented.…
