Evidence Based Practice: A Case Study
In 2000, Sackett, Straus, Richardson, Rosenberg and Haynes said that the evidence based practice (EBP) is the use of current evidence in making decisions about the patient and the care needed. The evidence based practice usually consists of systematic research and critical appraisals and these usually are used to answer questions about clinical trials. By this, new practice is always introduced to the patient and their care needs (Academy of medical-surgical nurses, 2017).
When using the EBP, one should formulate questions which include the essential components of the PICO question and these are the population, intervention, comparison and the outcome. In this case, the author used the PICOT format which means that the question include a time
