Nursing care in the 21st Century is evaluated more on the quality outcome for the patients and their families. Thus, there is a need for nurses to “draw upon three main approaches: research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement” (Care Search, 2014) as they provide patient care. To optimize the benefits of these three approaches, it is important that nurses be able to understand the similarities and differences that exist among these three concepts, e.g., nursing research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement.
