A three act play written by Reginald Rose’s. Twelve angry men is a dramatic story of a difficult jury just trying to reach a verdict. Most of the jury are thinking not guilty but the few jurors are hung on guilty with a few important pieces of evidence and clues it goes back and forth through the whole book. When the majority of the jury gets the few to change their mind the truth of being not guilty or guilty never is revealed.
Act One explains the layout of twelve angry men. This nineteen year old boy who is on trial for the murder of his father. During this act the jurors all come to conclusions about the iffy evidence and or clues. The first argument to be settled is if the old lady could have really seen the murder through the train. As well the jury comes to conclude that the train that came by is a very loud train. The old man upstairs claims he heard the boy say something but with the train coming there's no way the old man could have heard it. At the end of the Act the jurors have a nine to three vote in favor of guilty.
Act Three is the most intense most dramatic act of the whole book. The jury begins to retake the votes now the vote is six to six. The jury tries to vote on whether or not it's a hung jury or not once again the vote is six to six. Juror number nine says “We can't even get a majority to decide whether or not we're a hung jury”. At the end of the act juror number three is the only juror after a time of waiting juror three changes his mind to not guilty.
The way this book ends is a strength to me. It makes the reader think about it their self not just read and find out. Reading this book I felt as if I was one of the jurors myself. The only down fall for that is I didn't have a say in anything but i had my options. The book not telling me if the boy was guilty or not makes me want to figure it all out. This ending as well as book was great. This ending was definitely a strength within the
