Abstract The present article reviews contemporary literature on the related factors and interventions for adolescent girls with eating disorders. The incidence of eating disorders continues to rise amongst adolescent girls yet an effective intervention still fails to exist. Contemporary research links the sociocultural, biological, and physiological factors that put adolescent girls at such a high risk for the development of eating disorders. However, a gap in the literature remains in terms of what interventions work best for adolescent girls with eating disorders.
