Strength one –Fitness component: strength
Within my chosen activity of football I believe that strength is one of my biggest strengths. Strength is defined as applying force against resistance. As a right full back I have to have strength to hold players off the ball and have to use my strength to push the wingers of the ball .My role in the defence is to stop the attackers and release the ball to the attackers to start a counter attack or pass the ball to build up the attack I also need to see the space in the other team to pass the ball to start a counter attack I also need to stay in line with the other defenders to keep the shape and not leave a gap in the defence. Tackling is taking the ball off the other team. Within my position as a right full back I am often to have to be able to put in a tackle on the other team when they are attacking to put in a tackle I would abduct my leg towards the ball to put in a tackle. I also have to watch the runs and see I there is a possible pass that can be made to give the other team a better chance for example in a recent match I was the only man left in defence and there were 2 attackers coming up to the goal so I try to put pressure and mark to pass and I ended up intercepting the ball and releasing it to my team. my technique was correct here because I marked the run and put pressure on giving the attacker no options. Balance is the ability to keep the body stable by keeping the centre of mass. There are 2 types of balance: static balance and dynamic balance. static balance is performed with little or no movement for example a handstand. Dynamic balance is performed when movement takes place during a balance for example a cartwheel. In football you have to be able to stay on your feet to keep your balance because if you fall over that could open up a gap in your team and In my position a s a right fall back I have to be able to stay on my feet because if the other team is attacking down my side of the wing I have to stay on my feet if they try to send me the wrong way or try to cut in to the box. A way to improve balance is the stork balance test the stork balance test measures the ability for someone to maintain a state of balance on one leg this could improve your balance in a game of football for example when a winger cut in and the pressure is on one leg to turn I have to have good balance to make that turn and to try to tackle. Also balance is needed in game of football when the attacker is trying to skill you and for example he is using a body faint to try get past you here you need good balance to stay focused on the ball and not commit to a
