Example Of Early Child Observation

While in the Green room, I had to come up with two strategies I thought would be best for Phoebe, the child I chose to observe for 16 weeks. Phoebe is a very outgoing, talkative, active, curious, and a cheerful 2yr old; however at times she can get grouchy, testy and restless, she is just your average 2yr old. After observing her for a few weeks I started to notice that she can be very mean to the other children when things don’t go her way, she often visits the quiet chair a few times a day; for example, on September 12th-14th she was in the chair a few times from the time I was there until the time a left. One of those day she was in the chair back to back, once at 9:45am and then back in the chair at 11:26am for putting her hands on another classmate’s body. When she was able to go back and join the group she was directed to another center.

On this same day at 9:50am while on the playground, Phoebe was playing with a ball, the ball rolled away from her and another classmate picked it up and started playing with it, Phoebe started to scream “That’s my ball!” and she began to cry and throw herself on the ground, Mrs,Jess walked over and told her to use her words and tell the classmate that she was playing with the ball. The classmate then suggested that they play together, phoebe then said “Throw it to me first”.Over all I do think that this strategy worked for the most part, I think that as of now Phoebe is starting to use her words more, she starts to think before she reacts to situations which is amazing because it's keeping her out the quite
