What does racism truly mean? There are many misconceptions regarding what racism truly means. The term racism does not fall under a specific definition, but rather several definitions. The word “racism” itself comes from the root word “race”, but its origin stems from the French word “racisme”. It has also transitioned through various forms of the same word (including racialism, race hatred, and even "negrophobia").

Racism is unequal opportunities. Two people apply for a job: One is black and the other is white. They both come in for an interview and are dressed nicely and ready to impress the interviewer. Before the interview is conducted, the interviewer sees both of the men and immediately refuses the black man the position. Racism
