Response paper 5 There is A&P grocery store in a small town in New England. A nineteen years old boy, named Sammy, working as cashier in that store. Three young girls, wearing bathing suits come to the grocery store with barefoot. Sammy is impressed with their appearance and personality. He is always interested to watch most beautiful girls. By staring those girls, Sammy has made mistake when ring the items of the customers. The leading girl, named ‘Queenie’, says in a different way that which he had created in his mind. Stokesie, is other employee of the A&P store, who working with Sammy in opposite checkout line. He was married though he was could not make his eyes off from those girls. Sammy is making fun of him. The girls pick Sammy’s
checkout line for paying their snacks. The store manager come to Sammy’s line. Lengel the name of store manager tell those girls that their cloths are not appropriate for grocery store and when they come next time their shoulder supposed to be covered. The girls are embraced and walked out. Sammy feel Lengel should not supposed to tell those girls. Sammy immediately, take off the store apron and bow tie and resign his job. The manager tries to talk Sammy about his resigning. Lengel is telling him, he will regret afterward and this decision will make your parents disappoint. He get out from the A&P store. The girls have already gone far away, when he reaches the parking lot. Now Sammy is left alone with his unclear feeling. He thinks now what comes first in his life after that store.
