Journal Entry-
It was 12:00am the very first night at Ruby’s new home with Cora. Ruby sneaks out the back door with her bag on her back. She runs through the lush grass and hops the fence to the neighbor’s backyard. At that moment she realizes that there is a teenage boy in his pool swimming. Ruby tries to get out of talking but gets into a conversation. Then Rosco, Cora’s dog starts to bark and wakes Cora’s husband up. Ruby’s brother-in-law comes out and asks what Ruby is doing. The boy covers for her and says she was just coming over to ask if he could turn his music down. Ruby and her brother-in-law go back inside. He never found out she was trying to escape. But her plan had failed. I thought that Ruby was going to be able to escape and I was surprised that she didn’t. I couldn’t believe that the boy Ruby had just met covered for her and was nice to her after she had been a little standoffish towards him.
