Atticus is an honest man, he is a lawyer and the truth is important to him. This is demonstrated when he takes Tom Robinsons case. Atticus knows that there is no evidence against Tom, as that Tom is being persecuted by his colour and race. Atticus in the book does not discriminate anyone by his or her race, gender or how they look and that he teaches this onto his children on no to judge anyone. There have been many parts in the book of Atticus not discriminating anyone, especially Tom, when he Atticus went to Tom’s family and a boy walked up to the car where Jem was and Atticus’s lesson as be rubbed off onto Jem as he did not say or do anything racist towards the boy or anyone in the family. For example, he did not discriminate the Cunningham’s for being poor and how they paid him, he did not judge them. In addition, he took Tom Robinsons case as he defended him as if he was a white man, as Atticus does not judge anyone on his or her colour or race. During the book Atticus told scout an important message, “you never really understand a person, until you consider things from their point of view, until you climb into their skin and walk around in it”. Atticus has no prejudges and that he treats everyone with respect.
Atticus Finch is a wise man. He knows how to teach his children from right and wrong and to never judge people. Atticus was a wise man throughout the novel as he used many quotes and phrases to teach his children valuable lessons in life.
