Examples Of Child Observation
Observation Narrative In the beginning of the video, the child repeatedly turns the sponge over and over in his hands and then drops it. The child also looks behind him during this time for about one and a half seconds. He recovers the sponge quickly and continues to play with it back and forth in his hands. While playing the sponge in another hand, the baby grabs the rim of the bowl with his right hand and quickly lets it go after approximately one second. The child then stretches the sponge from left to right. Next, the child seems to simply toss the sponge next to him on the floor. Since the child is very close to the floor, he grabs on to the edge of the chair with his left hand to ensure his safety from falling out his seat. The infant then lowers his hands while holding to the floor for about one second. Then, the child is shadowed by another child who almost sits down in the same chair the baby is sitting in. The new child is an older boy. The older boy leaves and now the infant holds the sponge to his mouth, …show more content…
He tosses it slight to the right of him, somewhat behind him and then retrieves. Afterwards, the baby makes eye contact with the person behind the camera and sits towards the camera with his back facing the camera. The infant places the sponge in its mouth and starts to teethe. The baby does this for approximately five seconds or so and then again tosses it onto the floor and goes after it. Now he is crawling with the sponge in his left hand in between the furniture. He crawls five times and then sits himself upright while still gripping firmly onto the sponge. After manipulating the sponge in his hands for a few moments, the baby decides to continue crawling through the furniture, crawls in a circle around the kitchen and then stops right in the middle of the floor where the book and right in front of the TV. He pauses twice throughout the approximate 15 crawls he demonstrates
