1. Try watching television for 10 mins. Or so without the sound. Keep a list of the most noticeable nonverbal communication behaviors.
I have watched Mr. Bean the Animated series the episode is entitled “Toothache”. The first scene is him watching television about vampires while eating popcorn. (1) He swallowed hard because he was afraid. He thought that it was a horror movie after seeing that it was just a commercial, (2) he laughed. (Not talking about the episode) Whenever Mr. Bean is frustrated he would have this (3) hand gestures like he would raise his hands then sigh or he would put both of his hands in his waist. (4) Winking. (5) Head gestures. He would tilt his head side to side whenever he is wondering.
2. Difference among the news program, soap opera, interview show, and a comdey show.
News Program Soap Opera Interview Show Comedy Show
* The reporters are * Actors are emotional * Light smile and slightly * facial expressions serious serious are funny in a way
* Standing or seating * Walking, running and * Hand gesture is usually used * they always have crying that smiling face
In news program, your are serious in delivering the news so that people would believe you. In Soap opera's, the actors are usually crying and watching it without a sound makes it senseless for me. In interview show, when you watch The Buzz and the interviewee is Boy Abunda (without a sound again) would make you think what he's asking because of the gestures and facial expression specially when it is a very serious matter. In comedy show, they are usually smiling and laughing that even if it doesn't have a sound it is funny.
