In Kapolei I would wake up extremely early for school because of the traffic. It would take hours for me to get to school. Especially because I went to school at Saint Louis, it was a far drive compared to the nearby public school.I attended church called Saint Jude and we used to spend family time at the park by
our house or in our backyard playing catch. This shaped my cultural identity because this was how we spent time as a family, how to have fun, and shaped my faith in God. Now that I love in Hawaii Kai, I wake up later and allowed me to sleep longer. This shapes my Cultural Identity because now we joined a new church, eat at different restaurants, do different activities, and go to different places. I go to a church by the name of Holy Trinity, we spend time at Makapuu or at the pool by my house. This shaped my cultural identity because now that we don't have a backyard but a pool and beaches we go out more as a family and have fun.
I feel like moving to Hawaii Kai from Kapolei was an extreme change in my cultural identity. It shaped my family, religion, language, and food. Location is an important part of cultural identity because if you live by a certain church and certain restaurants then you will go to them because they are nearby, not the ones that are far away. An event like moving changes your whole life and your cultural identity. This move shaped my cultural identity in bad ways and in good ways. There are some changes that were great additions to my cultural identity, but some changes are not great additions to my cultural identity.
