do anything to get together with Daisy but unfortunately for Gatsby it leads him to his death. There are many times that Gatsby tried to get back together with his long lost love Daisy and she does love him back but things just cannot be because in the 1920s women had no right to leave a marriage. Plus she is committed with a child, but nothing will ever convince Gatsby that he cant be with her. One of the first examples of him trying to sew back his relationship with Daisy was when he invited her over for tea. On page 90 you can see by this quote “Nobody's coming for tea. It's too late!” he is very anxious and eager to see his love and rethinks his decision. But as time goes on and Daisy gets to the house things start to go as planned and he starts having fun and sort of sparks the fire. Many people may argue that Gatsby's real dream was to live the American dream which is that that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work and determination.
The reason why I think this is not correct is because Gatsby has already achieved success he is extremely wealthy and could get whatever he desires. The only thing he cant get is Daisy. Another example of them two rekindling their past was when Daisy hangs out with Tom, Gatsby, Jordan, and her husband on the hottest day ever. This was the worst thing they could have done. During lunch Daisy's husband Tom realizes that Gatsby and his wife are in love and having an affair. Gatsby just stares at Daisy with love eyes, and Daisy right next to Tom, says that she loves Gatsby. On page 122 a lot of stuff goes down Tom sees Gatsby and says “Mr. Gatsby! He put out his broad, flat hand with well-concealed dislike. “ I’m glad to see you, sir…..Nick…..” Right after that Daisy tells Tom to make them drinks and she immediately kisses Gatsby and says on page 123 “You know I love you.” As you can see Gatsby thinks that his dream is coming true and it seems that way but it will soon get shattered when Tom finds
out. Everything went downhill from there and got even worse when Daisy was caught driving around with Gatsby in his Rolls Royce. He actually let Daisy drive it and while they were driving around and she hits end up hitting Tom's mistress Myrtle Wilson wife of George Wilson who thinks his marriage is perfect, little does he know his wife is cheating on him. Daisy hits and kills Myrtle. Eventually George finds out that the car that hit her was owned by Jay Gatsby and George eventually goes to Gatsby’s house, where he finds Gatsby in the pool, floating on a floatie. George Wilson then shoots Gatsby and then shoots himself. Nick then finds Gatsby floating dead in his pool and Daisy and Tom are never talked about or seen again. Although Gatsby achieved the success of becoming a filthy rich man he couldn't achieve his ultimate goal of getting back together with Daisy. Although Daisy loved him back she couldn't leave her husband because girls really didn't have the right to do that, it was unheard of. The whole thing was a bad idea, because at some point Tom was going to find out. They could have been more discreet about the affair. Gatsby's love affair led him to his brutal misunderstood death. I think the big picture or what he was trying to convey is that the past is behind you and you should leave it that way.
