became angry with the world. Hamlet's desire for revenge did not just hurt his family, it also hurt his friends and others near him. Ophelia was hurt the worst. Hamlet loved Ophelia, and Ophelia had feelings for Hamlet. Hamlet acted angry towards her, pushing her against walls, calling her vile names, and offending her family. Once Hamlet had killed her father, Polonius, she lost nearly all of her sanity. She became delusional and gave out strands of straw thinking that they were flowers. Eventually, Ophelia jumped in the water and drowned due to her heavy cloths. Ophelia is an example of how revenge can ruin and potentially end lives. Another outcome of revenge is violence. Hamlet and many others showed violence on multiple occasions. Hamlet wanted to kill Claudius for murdering King Hamlet. Laertes, Polonius’s son, wanted to kill Hamlet for murdering Polonius. Both of them succeeded, but died as well in the act. Their actions prove that revenge leads to violence. Revenge also ends many friendships. Hamlet was so focused on avenging his father, he rarely spent time with them. Claudius and Queen Gertrude asked Hamlet’s friends to watch him. Hamlet felt as if this was an act of betrayal. Hamlet was even willing to kill his friends in order to get his revenge.
In conclusion, revenge is an extremely dangerous thing. The story of Hamlet clearly explains that revenge ends relationships, causes violence, and ends lives. Many people should learn from their mistakes, and live a live without violence.
