Macbeth is very loving and supportive at the beginning of Macbeth. His wife changed him by talking him into killing Duncan. He starts thinking more about himself and less about others. “For mine own good All causes shall give way. In the play Macbeth by Shakespeare I found at the beginning the character Macbeth was a portrayed as a noble, honest and brave man. As said by the captain in the second scene, ‘For brave Macbeth – well he deserves that title’ (I.2.16). This gives the audience an indication that Macbeth was highly respected by the king’s men and the king himself. His desire for power grew throughout the play from when he had his first encounter with the witches.…
However, in concordance with Aristotle’s opinion, Macbeth isn’t all bad. At first glance, it may seem difficult to find redeeming features in a mass-murdering tyrant. But it’s important to remember that, at the beginning of the play, he is lauded as a great and loyal soldier. “For brave Macbeth--well he deserves that name--Disdaining fortune, with his brandish'd steel…”(I.ii)…
Macbeth was a loyal and brave soldier, this was thought by everyone even by the king. Without the push and prophecy from the witches and Lady Macbeth Macbeth wouldn’t have thought of pursuing in killing of the king to become the next leader of Scotland.…
As the novel begins, Macbeth speaks so highly of his friends. Macbeth shows his caring side and honor of his friends, as he relishes praise on Banquo, stating that his “children shall be kings”(1.3.89). Banquo replies in kind, stating, “you shall be king”(1.4.90). Macbeth always wants to be in the spotlight so this is a big step for him. When Macbeth meets King Duncan, his eloquent manners are also displayed, and he speaks highly of his king. “The service and the loyalty I owe./ In doing it pays itself. Your Highness”(1.4.25-26). Macbeth refuses gifts offered by Duncan, to reveal how grateful he is to him. However, with Macbeth, when his personality changes and his greed increases, his mind and body shape into a horrible dishonest human being. Macbeth turns to the dark side, dishonoring his previous self. He also then plans the next victim in a line of murders. As he talks to Lady Macbeth his mind gradually goes crazier, “and with thy bloody and invisible hand,/ Cancel and tear to pieces that great bond,/ Which keeps me pale”(3.3.54-56). In the beginning good friends were so valuable and important…
Macbeth is not a villain in whom there is little to admire; he in fact, contains many characteristics that responders would look up to and to some extent, respect. Bravery and courage is shown with Macbeth throughout the play which causes us to admire him. What ultimately had caused Macbeth's rise and downfall is what the witches had dishonesty masqueraded, and thus Macbeth's character flaw had provoked the events happening. Moreover, although Macbeth had committed many awful and unforgivable deeds, within him, is the guilt and remorse for those people who were his victims. Many times he have had questioned himself whether what he was doing was right, showing how there is compassion within him. Ambition and determination is the major driving force for Macbeth and his villain' deeds. Although as the play gradually develops, Macbeth becomes more like a villain, nothing changes the way he feels about his beloved wife, Lady Macbeth. Hence, Macbeth is not a villain in whom there is little to admire as there are many qualities within him that is admirable and respectable.…
Macbeth was known as a loyal and mostly honored man in the first beginning. The witches predicted great things for him. From reading the book he seemed so great. Throughout the scenes he starts to change and act different. Macbeth has this mindset to kill Duncan so that he can be king. He wants power and is very greedy for power and was willing to kill him to get it. It made the reader vision him in a more selfish and hunger for greed way.…
He is considered a brave and courageous man, “…Like Valor’s minion carv’d out his passage…” 1, 2, 19, but after the witches prophesies, his life begins to change, making every word the witches spoke, come true. “All hail Macbeth, hail to thee, Thane of Glamis…Thane of Cawdor…that shalt be King hereafter…” 1, 3, 47-49. Macbeth, at first is reluctant to murder Duncan, but with persuasion from Lady Macbeth, he is able to continue as they had planned. From the crime that Macbeth commits, it leads to sleepless nights, and fear, “As they had seen me with these hangman’s hands...” 2, 2, 3. Soon Macbeth begins to feel troubled in his own body, fearing for his life, he decides to murder Banquo as he was beginning to be suspicious of the way Macbeth has been acting. But Banquo’s murder only causes Macbeth more troubles, at the state banquet; Macbeth begins to see things that only he can see, floating daggers with which he murdered Duncan with and the ghost of Banquo. “Is this a dagger which I see before me…” 2, 1, 33. The more murders there were the more mentally deranged and unstable Macbeth became, pushing him to the edge until he felt he had no choice but to consult the Weird Sisters so he could find some peace of mind, some thought of comfort. “I conjure you by that which you profess,” 4,…
<br>Initially MACBETH is seen as a great soldier, a fearless fighter who has loyally defended his King against a treacherous rebellion. However, he is corrupted by evil in the form of three witches and their supernatural prophecies, and by ambition, not so much his own at first but by Lady Macbeth's ambition for him to murder Duncan, thus attaining the crown of Scotland.…
After his first murder, Macbeth feels the need to murder others to keep his crown. For example, Macbeth fears Banquo because he feels that Banquo will find out too much. Macbeth hires three murderers to kill Banquo and his son Fleance. This is very unlike Macbeth from the beginning of the play. Macbeth and Banquo were once best friends, but Macbeth greed takes control and he does not care.…
Macbeth was a noble and loyal man, who would never harm his King. If it wasn't for the influences of the witches and his wife, Lady Macbeth, he would have lived happily as Thane of Cawdor, an honorable title in itself. The downfall of Macbeth was ignited by the actions by those around him, mainly, and eventually, his ambitions took over. Macbeth never had the intention of killing his king, but was ultimately persuaded that it was the correct thing to do. With his wife’s cajoling, and the three witches’ foretelling of his future Macbeth, will stop at nothing to gain position as King of Scotland.…
At first macbeth appears to be a brave and strong hero with a disposition “like valor's minion carved out his passage” Macbeth seems like a good person at the beginning, even though later he becomes darker progressively. “For brave Macbeth-well he deserves that name-” “What he hath lost, noble Macbeth hath won.”…
Macbeth was a noble and loyal man to the king and Scotland and had a good ‘reputation’ before he killed the king, however his determination to become the king of Scotland had taken over his thoughts with the help from the witches prophesies and Lady Macbeth.…
Because we first hear of Macbeth in the wounded captain's account of his battlefield valor, our initial impression is of a brave and capable warrior. This perspective is complicated, however, once we see Macbeth interact with the three witches. We realize that his physical courage is joined by a consuming ambition and a tendency to self-doubt--the prediction that he will be king brings him joy, but it also creates inner turmoil. These three attributes--bravery, ambition, and self-doubt--struggle for mastery of Macbeth throughout the play. This complexity adds another dimension to the character of Macbeth, making him much more interesting.…
