In today's society greed and acquisitiveness is a large issue. Wealth is infamous for satisfying one's financial desires, but bringing worst out of him or her. The Pearl,a novella written by John Steinbeck, focuses on someone's personal destruction through greed. This someone is Kino, a poor fisherman who lives with his young son and wife, Coyotito and Juana. In The Pearl, desire and wickedness consume Kino and the entire city of La Paz soon after information goes around that Kino found the pearl of the world. Emotions like greed, anger, happiness, luck, sadness, wickedness, and evil are all major aspects in this book.
