2. Bandwagon appeal – 1/18/11 6:30 pm – While watching a TV show, a commercial came on for burger king with the comment that everyone needs to try “Americas favorite burger”. While this is obviously not a proven fact they are going on that bandwagon style of appeal to sell more burgers.

When offered proposals to organize a private healthcare system, President Obama showed little enthusiasm. Fox News’ Sean Hannity said that, “the constitution was shredded, thwarted, the rule of law was passed aside. Gingrich expressed that the Obama administration was “prepared to fundamentally violate the constitution” and that Obama is [in favor of] a left-wing secular socialist system.” Sarah Palin also raised concern of the rise of socialism when discussing it with Hannity. She had concerns of Obama’s proposal to develop a “system of universal building codes to promote energy efficiency.” Palin stated, “Our country could evolve into something that we do not even recognize, certainly that is so far from what the founders of our country had in mind for…

It should come as no surprise that Americans continue to thrive off of the fast food restaurant industry. For some time now, McDonald’s Big Mac and Burger King’s Whopper have been in direct competition to attract the fast food burger consumer. It has long been debated on which of these popular burgers are best, while each possess some similarities, they both offer big differences.…

Within the first few moments of the debate, the contrasting tones and styles of both Romney and Obama became clear. Ready and willing to point out the faults in President Obama’s economic plans, the Republican candidate was engaging, full of energy and ready to launch into his detailed and extensive five-point plan aimed towards the revival of the economy. Throughout the course of the 90-minute session, Romney with the aid of his bullet points and passion delivered a well-prepared account of his stances of domestic policy including energy, healthcare, education and tax reform. In contrast, for the majority of the session, President Barack Obama seemed to be surprisingly ill-prepared and even without a clear answer or plan to combat with Romney’s concrete points. Rather than delving into his new and revolutionary ideas on how to kick-start the economy and improve the conditions of America’s workers and families, many times the President’s main rebuttal was his disagreement with the policies put forth by his opponent, yet offering little in…

Gender stereotypes simply refer to the generalizations on characteristics of gender, their differences, and roles of different genders as individuals or as groups. Although stereotypes can either be positive or negative, they can rarely be accredited as credible sources of information about others. Gender stereotyping occurs when people automatically assume things about other without having evidence on the same. Traditionally, stereotypes on women depict their role marriage and rearing of children. Women are also supposed to put their families’ first before themselves, loving them, caring for them, nurturing them and at the same time they are supposed to look and feel beautiful. The stereotypical role for males is to act as the source of bread, be assertive, courageous as well independent. The gender stereotypes can be harmful as they can stifle one’s expression, creativity and professional growth (Gerritsen,…

Last weekend, conservatives adopted a “we told you so” attitude toward the Obama administration. Senators Lindsay Graham and John McCain laid recent events in Iraq squarely at the feet of the current president, blaming him for the unrest in the Middle East and the ongoing violence in Anbar. McCain’s office issued a press release, in which the Arizona senator claimed that “When President Obama withdrew all U.S. forces from Iraq in 2011…many of us predicted that the vacuum would be filled by America’s enemies and would emerge as a threat to U.S. national security interests.” Representative Duncan Hunter went so far as to say, “What this president did was abandon everything that we fought for because Iraq could not sustain itself without some American involvement.”…
