Antigone is born under great wealth because of her parents and her family. She lives her whole life with no struggles and she is very lucky for that. Although both her parents die, she still has an extremely stable future. She is about to marry her cousin Haemon and still be filthy rich, but, she was not going to let that control her life. When Antigone hears about Creon's law against the burial of her brother Polynices, she knew that someone had to make things just. She knew that Creon is the only man that believes a proper burial for Polynices is a crime. Antigone stands up to the most powerful man in Thebes while knowing the consequences, which is truly heroic because she chooses her own destiny.
Although Antigone comes out as exceedingly ruthless by accepting her death, it is because of her heartfelt determination to honor her brother's death. Antigone cares for the dead more than the living. When Antigone goes to her sister for backup, Ismene refuses to help which leaves Antigone on a solo death mission. She says “I will bury him myself. And even if I die in the act, that death will be a glory. I will lie with the one I love and loved by him” (85-87) In spite of the fact that she has to do this alone, she doesn't doubt herself one bit.
