Offering inappropriate treatment or care is unacceptable within a care setting because every resident deserves to be treated equally and professionally. As a care worker it is your duty to ensure that they are receiving the best care possible no matter why they are in the situation they are in. A resident’s past should not affect the way you treat or think of them, we are there to support and promote independence for all residents. If a resident is showing unusual behaviour you should try to find out what is wrong with that resident and don’t label them as being awkward or doing it for attention.
For example, a resident may present challenging behaviour this does not mean they are violent or abusive
