Examples Of Issues In Jails
There are several issues issues in American jails today . Clear , Cole and Reisig present four issues considering the management of American jails which is legal liability, Jail standards, personal matters and jail crowding . I will be example the why each of these issues is a problem and the consequences of an institution failure considered those issues.

Legal Liability have force attention to sheriffs , jail managers and local governments officials. When a Government official use his authority on a citizen of civil rights , the victim is in entitled to sue the to halt the violations and to collect damage and recoup legal sentence. Prisoners have litigated in every aspect ranging from conditions of incarceration to the quality of food. …show more content…
This is a problem as local correctional workers are among the most poorly trained, least educated and worst paid employees in the criminal justice system. Local correctional workers earn less than firefighters and police officers. Giving that in some situation , each jail employee must be able to control 25 inmates or more . You expect them to make more money as they put there life in danger as mush as police officers and firefighters. These leave correctional often unhappy as they leave to pursue better paying with less stress working conditions. Many jails have a complete staff turnover every two or three years leaving . This cause more problems because what employees constantly leaving to pursue better job opportunity , jail administration are forced to put new employees start from the academy or people that was in custodial position awaiting and opening. The potential conquest of the institution failing to fixing the problems is increase the other the other last two issues . This is because their be more suits as there less experienced employees and it's hard creating jail standards when you constantly have a change in jail staff and adjust to last experience staff . One way in which in to solve this problem is to increase pay rate and working conditions to make job more
