Examples Of Life Lessons In The Outsiders
Some books teach a lot of good life lessons. Some don’t teach any at all, but S.E. Hinton’s “The Outsiders” teaches many good life lessons. The two biggest lessons I took from this novel is not everyone is a bad person, and that things are rough all over. The first lesson I took from this book is that not everyone is a bad person. In the book Johnny saves the kids from the burning church house.Then toward the end of this novel Randy, Bob’s friend, came over to check on Ponyboy after he wakes up from being sick. These are perfect examples because the two gangs think each other are such bad people but this shows they can all do good things.     It contains very strong theme about dysfunctional family, use of drugs and crime. I guess the board of education was afraid that the students will imitate the events in the book. However, I understand why they decided to re-allow it in schools. The author, who wrote this book around our age really wanted to deliver that we can all live together in peace and conflict only bring more conflict. Although the family in the Outsiders wasn’t the best family you could ask for, they had so much love inside them they didn’t actually portray to each other. They just didn’t know the right way to express it. I would rate this book 4/5 because of the effectiveness of the author trying to deliver her message in a coherent manner. I highly recommend all teenagers to read this book. Overall, I think this compelling story will grasp even the most reluctant readers thanks to the deep bond of sympathy.     The Outsiders gives the reader hints and ideas from the story explaining how we should act and other moral issues. For example, a message the author describes is to stay young and innocent. The Greasers, specifically the younger Greasers, are taught to smoke and kill at a young age. This leads them to do bad things such as going to jail, participating in rumbles, and robbing stores. In other words, bad influence at a young age allows them to do illegal actions. By showing these actions from characters and the negative results, Hinton leads readers to the best idea of civility- trying to prevent the habit of performing crimes and being corrupted. Also, S.E. Hinton sends an important message to people who want to give up. She gives clues throughout the story about the importance of friendship and to not block out your emotions and problems.
