Scout experiences many different stuff, one of them being Tom Robinson's trial. Tom was wrongly accused of assaulting and raping Mayella Ewell and was sent to jail. Scout experienced many racial injustice throughout this trial. During the trial Scout noticed that a lot of people went instead of only the family, she also noticed that all the black people sat at the bottom and the white people sat at the bottom closer to the
judge. All the evidence that was used against Tom robinson did not make sense, scout along with many of the people present heard and seen all the evidence that was taken to court and still thought that Tom should have not been arrested. This was a major loss of innocence for Scout because she sees that life isn't fair and sometimes innocent people loose.
Another situation that led to the loss of innocence is when Calpurnia took Scout and her brother Jem to her all black church. Lula, a member of the congregation , approached calpurnia "Lula stopped, but she said, "You ain't got no business bringin' white chillun here – they got their church, we got our'n. It is our church, ain't it, Miss Cal?" (Lee 258). This made scout feel unwelcome, she started to see how unequal society was with even the church being seperated by color. Some weren't happy to see two white kids at an all black church but others were happy and treated them with respect because Tom Robinson is also a part of that church and scouts father helped him with his case.
