An example of potential negligence can be seen in football and has got a lot of national attention with the recent development of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy from concussion in high contact sports. Players want to return-to-play (Menta, 2016), so that they can keep their jobs and continue to make lots of money and the National Football League was allowing them to play since they know fans came to watch the star players play. Recently the National Football League has started implanting new concussion protocol along with hiring outside doctors not affiliated with them to give these exams so players are returning when they are healthy not when they want to return. Basketball is unique in many cases as they allow courtside seating along with easy access to playing surface compared to sports like football and baseball who have walls up as a barrier to prevent people from easily gaining access to the playing surface. Ways to reduce the risk of a fan entering the court would be by having several security guards present at the game watching and preventing people from going on to court along with verbally and writing on the ticket the consequences that will happen to those who disobey those rules. NCAA has looked into court storming at the end of game however has not ruled it illegal. Conferences are starting to fine member schools for courting storming as it turns into a civil liability nightmare and trying to reduce its member schools from allowing it. The NCAA wants to avoid devastating injuries and subsequent litigation (Winneker, 2017). Gross negligence I fell would come into play here as all college students know that they should not enter the court of play along with knowing that is unacceptable to hurt another living
