Parents are really taken for granted by a lot of kids. We have no idea how much they do for us, or love us, until we are all grown up with kids of our own. In the novel, The Road, by Cormac McCarthy I saw a theme of paternal love. Every parent loves their child but I think that if you are trying to keep your child and yourself alive it is a whole new type of bond with each other. Some examples of paternal love are the things the father says to his son. The father once stated, “If you died I would want to die too”(11). He is saying that if his son died there would be not point to life anymore so he would want to die too.
