When reading Farewell to Manzanar and the two sources you can tell that there are many characteristics. But two that really stuck out to me are hope and perseverance. Without hope the characters in the book and the people in the sources that we read about would just give up and not persuit in their life. Also perseverance is important because in the camps they pushed through the rough times even though they were difficult. THESIS!!!…

The similarities between humans and dogs are quite minimal, if we are to compare appearance-wise. However, that does not mean humans and dogs don’t have the same traits, thoughts, and behaviors. For instance, both can influence others emotionally and both can make decisions that leave unforgettable imprints in others’ lives. But, are dogs able to do the most meaningful thing that humans are capable of doing, being a hero? Well, the answer to that question situates in the comic book Dogs Of War by Sheila Keenan, where it proves that not only humans can be heroes, but dogs can as well. Through captivating illustrations and realistic dialogue, the author retells true stories of how three different war dogs (Boots, Loki, and Sheba), in three different…
The book, Call of the Wild, written by Jack London, and the movie Call of the Wild are very different in many ways. It could be the way a scene plays out, a character’s role, or even when a event takes place.…
The ability to persevere is extremely important in overcoming a mental or physical challenge. In the World War II Audie Murphy was able to be the most decorated soilder, despite being injured many times along the way. After talking about Murphy being the most decorated soldier the biography of Audie Murphy states, "Murphy had been wounded three times during the war, yet, in May 1945, when victory was declared in Europe, he had still not reached his 21st birthday." Murphy wasn't even 21 when the war ended, meaning he was injured three times and was able to still be the most decorated soldier, all while being one of the youngest soldiers. Audie Murphy overcame all of his injuries, despite having no war experience and kept fighting for his country which displays excellent…
For example, Buck was taken from his warm, luxurious home and put on a sled dog team. Different from Buck, Gram went to college and it was a new experience for her. Also, both of them were afraid of something. Buck was beaten by the man in the red sweater, he was hurt and afraid of the club after that. On the other hand, Gram had to take a speech class, but she was afraid of speaking in front of a group. Lastly, they both beat a fear they had. Buck was afraid of Spitz, even though he didn’t show it. He finally beat Spitz in a fight, gaining leadership over the other dogs. However, Gram beat her fear of speaking, also giving her success in speech class. Even though Buck and Gram had very different experiences, they both used perseverance to beat their…
The 2007 Film Into the Wild tells the story of Chris McCandless, an unsatisfied college graduate who leaves his family and promising future behind to live a life of isolation in the Alaskan wilderness. While John Krakauer’s essay “Death of an Innocent” portrays Chris is an extremely heroic light by likening him to “a monk gone to God,” Into the Wild leaves much more room for debate by presenting Chris as selfish and detached. Chris, however, is not the only character whose actions can be interpreted as heroic or not. The peripheral female characters also act in ways that put themselves at risk. While the female characters take personal risks to fulfill their need for relationships, Chris takes selfishly motivated physical chances, ultimately disregarding all human relationships; this binary begs the question then of which is more heroic—truly caring about people and empathizing? Or being independent and avoiding emotional engagement?…
Sometimes, It can be very hard to persevere. In The Call of Wild, Buck is taken away from his home, and Buck has to find a solution immediately. When my mother’s ACLS test showed up, my mother felt worried about the test, and had to find a solution. While Buck and my mother came across two very different events, they both had in common with their feelings. Growing up, and finding a solution to a problem can be hard because, people have to go through a lot of negative situations which is scary, and sometimes painful.…
Death and beatings, the most struggling events that require you to be able to persevere. In Call of The Wild, Buck deals with unwillingness loss and beatings that he will have to face. In contrast, most people have to deal with the passing of a friend or loved one every day, but my mother dealt with it for her first time. While a dog and a human may differ, they have some things in common, they both deal with the departure and pain and to accomplish it with perseverance. Even though animals are different than humans, we all have to persevere in life, whether it's death, pain or becoming a new person.…
Perseverance though a scary time is hard to do. In the book The Call of the Wild, Buck is taken from his home and forced to live in the tough, harsh, and unforgiving Canada. Through all of the challenges ahead on the adventure, he powers through. In contrast to this, Christine had to have brain surgery. Even though she knew about everything that was going to happen during the surgery, she was still afraid of the the procedure and the outcome. In reality, they had to persevere through different things, but yet they are the same. With courage, strength, and scaredness, they powered through. At the beginning, they were both scared. The difference is the struggles they encountered during it. But in the end, the both had a happy life.…
Getting through a tough time can be challenging and it might require perseverance. In Call of the Wild Buck has to persevere through tough times after he was taken away and shown his place in the wild. In contrast some people choose to join the army. In the army there is a place called ranger school. That is a very tough thing to do and persevere through mental and physical barriers. While my dad and Buck both endured pain and suffering they both got through it. Perseverance is a thing that everyone will have to do at some point in their life…

Everyone goes through obstacles that require perseverance. The novel Call of the Wild represents perseverance through the main character Buck, and his uncontrollable, difficult life. Humans also go through many difficult challenges in their lives and dad was forced into a situations that no one would want to go through. Although humans and animals are very different, the two both go through uncomfortable challenges as individuals, and they both have to persevere. Perseverance means to complete something no matter what the setbacks are and how tough it may be. Buck and my dad both had to persevere.…
Peaceful resistance to laws is a positive impact a free society because for example like Rosa Parks she helped the colored people a lot. She fought for what she thought was the right thing to do because the colored people were being pushed around without having their ideas spoken out. She was taken out the bus she was riding in because she didn't want to move from the seat she was sitting in and she was pushed out the bus and was told a lot of bad racist things that I don't think any one deserve to hear. A lot of people back then were being pushed away because they were from color and like the blacks they had to go to different schools then the white, they had to drink from a different water fountain, or had to go to different restrooms. The…
“Ouch.” I said as I rose from the sand, rubbing my head. I looked up and saw the helicopter, perfectly landed, which was weird because the last thing I remember was the tail spiraling us out of control and me renting it of course. I looked around and saw nothing but sand, water, and trees, lots and lots of trees. I slowly stood up and brushed the sand off my pants and shirt. I saw that the shoes I had been wearing were no longer on my feet, which was a bummer because I had just gotten them.…
