Perseverance of Gram and Buck

Beating something can require perseverance in many different ways. In The Call of the Wild, Buck is taken from his cozy home and put on a sled dog team. He fights with the lead dog, Spitz, often, until one time Buck finally beat him in a fight. On the other hand, my Gram went to college and took a speech class. She was afraid of speaking in front of a large group of people, so she used perseverance to help her control her decisions. While Buck and Gram are different, they were both afraid at one point and both beat a fear they had. Both Gram and Buck had to experience something new, whether it was fighting with another dog or going to college and talking in front of people. In the book, Buck is captured from his snug and cozy home and put on a sled dog team. He had to use perseverance to challenge the lead dog on the team. He got sold to Manuel who then took Buck to a train station. At the train station, he met the man in the red sweater. This man hit Buck repeatedly with a club. Buck learns the law of the club and that he should respect to his masters. He then gets sold to another

For example, Buck was taken from his warm, luxurious home and put on a sled dog team. Different from Buck, Gram went to college and it was a new experience for her. Also, both of them were afraid of something. Buck was beaten by the man in the red sweater, he was hurt and afraid of the club after that. On the other hand, Gram had to take a speech class, but she was afraid of speaking in front of a group. Lastly, they both beat a fear they had. Buck was afraid of Spitz, even though he didn’t show it. He finally beat Spitz in a fight, gaining leadership over the other dogs. However, Gram beat her fear of speaking, also giving her success in speech class. Even though Buck and Gram had very different experiences, they both used perseverance to beat their

    In the article, “The Winning Edge,” the author, Peter Doskoch, explains the reasons to persevere. When you start something, don’t stop until you reach success.
