To Kill A Mockingbird Persuasive Essay
Imagine in the middle of the night someone comes into your house and slaughters your entire family. You were the only one to survive because you hid under the bed as he came into your room. Imagine the pain that you would endure for the rest of your life while the person who slaughtered your family still goes on living the rest of their life with food and water. This is not justice because the same men and women that kill our families and friends are still allowed to live. I believe that the death penalty is the right answer because it gives justice to the families, it acts as a deterrence, and it is economically smart.

If you have strict laws for crimes, then people wouldn’t want to commit them, and if the consequence is death then they especially would not want to do it. A quote by Ernest Van Den Hagg, a professor of Fordham University, stated, "Common sense, lately bolstered by statistics, tells us that the death penalty will deter murder, if anything can. People fear nothing more than death. Therefore, nothing will deter a criminal more than the fear of death. Death is final. But where there is life there is hope…” This is saying that as long as people are allowed to live for their crimes then people outside and inside prison will still believe that they won’t get punished for their crimes. Others may claim that this is too harsh, but the fact is that these people murdered others slowly and painfully.
