Examples Of Physical Abuse In Slavery
To whom may concern,

I am here to inform you on an article that I read not too long ago. I was recently made aware of Mr.frederick and how he was mistreated and he was abused and hated by some.He went through mental and physical abuse. The main type of physical abuse was whippings, this usually happens when something is done wrong by the slave.A physical form of abuse was giving less clothes to the slavs so that they will be cold.A type of mental abuse was getting talked about and always having people being mean to them and calling them bad names, etc. These are just a few things that they would do. One example of physical abuse that Mr.frederick had was when him and his Master got into a fight and he ended up hitting Mr.frederick in the head not killing him but busting him in the head.

I strongly agree that slavery should be ended. I feel like all races should be treated the same. I don't even understand why only African Americans are only considered slaves. I don't think anyone wants to get beat or treated poorly. No one should go through that. Whoever used to be a slave owner should have

You might work 12 hours a day or more and not even get any type of money. Imagine it this way when you're doing chores, cleaning, washing dishes, laundry and taking out the trash, etc.And at the end of the day after slaving around your parents say you're not getting paid after all the hard work you do. I'm pretty sure you'll be disappointed. Let's say while, washing dishes you accidentally dropped one of the plates or cups or do something wrong, Guess what happens you get whipped and that won't be fun. It’s not the real deal, but it kind of gives you an idea of the situation. If you wouldn't one that to happen to your mom or dad would you support slavery? Or would you want to ban it?.No one will want that and nobody should have to go through

In the novel Nightjohn by Gary Paulsen, chapter 4, Sarny recalls a memory of three slaves who were all made examples of by either running away, sneaking off plantation, or getting caught too close to the white house. In the first case, Sarny recalls a girl named Alice. She tried to run away when she was on the plantation but she was caught. In return the dogs caught her trying to run away and she was whipped until her skin was bleeding and rippled. Clel Waller decided that instead of killing her he would make her the next breeder she hated this role so she went wandering off. Clel found her and then started to whip her near the shed. Next there was jim, who also tried to run away but once again the dogs caught him ripping his skin. Finally…

To talk about Douglass’s slave life with physical violence we can think about Covey. According to Douglass’s narrative, he was a farm renter and a poor man. He works sometimes as a trainer of slaves from the government two or three years without any charge (p.126). To tell about the bitterest dregs of slavery in his entire life, Douglass said, it was the slavery life staying six months with Covey. Shortest nights were too long for him and the longest day were too short for him. Covey made it possible to break down, both physically and spiritually. Douglass’s disposition to read was departed, his intellect was flagged, slavery of dark night covered to him and transformed to a brute (p.136). That is how Covey’s physical torture make a disaster…

What is slavery? According to Dictionary.com it is the process in which “a person who is the property of and wholly subject to another; a bondservant”. Slavery is very unheard of in this millennium era for as it first occurred in 1619 when the first African Americans were brought over to North American colony of Jamestown and ended in 1865 when the thirteenth amendment was ratified and abolished slavery. It is up to the few who are given the opportunity to share the truth of the violence and exploitation of slavery and the harm it caused not only to the newly founded country but specifically the South. Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl is a compelling novel written by Harriet Ann Jacobs, a former slave. Born as a slave in Edenton, North Carolina in 1813, the only life Harriet knew was that of a slave. Growing up in the south as a young African American girl caused Harriet a life of hardships that must be faced to find freedom. The time of 1836 to 1860 was often nicknamed the antebellum period. During the Antebellum period is was very much legal to hold African Americans as slaves to endlessly do work for their master with no pay. Slaves were treated like property, often only eating a piece of bread for the entire week and being whipped if they were to eat any more. Most of the young slave girls at…

Slavery has existed for thousands of years in many societies and therefore slavery should have never been abolished. It was practiced in the American Colonies in the 17th and 18th centuries and helped build the new nation. Slavery has been around for centuries. It will forever and always be something horrific and terrifying all over the world, especially to African Americans. Even after time passed after the Slave Trade did former slaves have to deal with painful flashbacks of everything they tried to survive through during that time period. Slaves would be whipped, lashed, slashed, branded or even worse, killed, if they refused to follow any of their masters orders, no exceptions. They began to rebel against the laws after years of the same punishment. The importance was the history of slaves, and the fact that it began to mix with “ adaption and resistance “ from slaves, which was very rare but bold. With that being stated I agree with the statement because without slaves taking some of these particular actions they would have never gotten out of the situations they were in.…

Whipping and lynching were ways in which the slaveowners would dehumanize their slaves. “He would whip her to make her scream, and whip her to make her hush; and not until overcome by fatigue, would he cease to swing the blood-clotted cowskin.” Slaves were treated like animals. Frederick was punished because of defending his own rights. He said “I still made no answer, nor did I move to strip myself.…

Decades upon decades of inhumane and demoralizing treatment. Countless lives lost, and thousands of families split apart. Worked endlessly for hours, and even days on end. Deprived of food, water, and shelter. Spat on. Whipped. Beaten until chunks of skin were left hanging almost by a thread, with blood covering backs and the grass below. Beautiful human faces scarred and bruised. Slavery was evil, just as racism is to this very day. Even after the emancipation of African American slaves, white men in the south still continue to treat them as poorly and abusively as a stray dog. These emancipated slaves and their families deserve a fighting chance to make a living as free black men. They are no longer slaves, they are now the equals to white men. Former southern slave owners have no right to claim this land, after the way that they hurt all of these African Americans.…

Most people say there are two sides to every story, but there can only be one side to the story of people, being denied as to having equal rights, no matter their color or creed. Slavery might have been acceptable to people in England, but the main reason that drew people to America was in the pursuit of Freedom. It 's only reasonable to believe that to be true to this principle, slavery had to be abolished.…

Slavery is despondent and that's that. Whether a person is black, white, Asian, or otherwise, it is not just to be whipped, beaten, and given extremely hard jobs with no pay, maybe very little. This is how most slaves were treated before 1863, then the Emancipation Proclamation was signed to save many normal human beings.…

I believe every person was born the same. You should not discriminate against African Americans because they have a darker skin color. I don't believe having us to do your work is fair. I don't think you would want us to push you around and tell you what to do while we sit around. We all needed to be treated equal. I hate that people can throw us around, tell us what to do, and get away with it. Slave owners do not provide us with proper education. They beat us with whips and other things. They give us little to no money. I don't think slave owners need to be nicer, or give us more money. I think slavery should stop.…
