Examples Of Secular Humanism
The song High and Dry by the band Radiohead serves an example of Secular Humanism because of the meaning of the song that is implying that trying so hard to achieve the fame and glory people try to measure themselves by today’s society’s standards, because of their blindness to what really matters and to what is true, can ultimately destroy you really are a person.
The term Secular Humanism cannot be simply defined just as you would search up a word in Google or in a dictionary. Leo Preffer, author of the journal article “The “Religion of Secular Humanism”, states that “If secular humanism is a religion it is a funny kind of religion”, since the term secular by itself is exactly the opposite of religious and other theistic beliefs. In 1969, Max Rafferty presented a document which blames the idea of Secular Humanism for the catastrophes of moral values in California because it traces with sex education, …show more content…
Having a worldview of a God that doesn’t have to do anything with the cosmos is a dead end. Secular humanism may involve a human being’s principles and virtues but it stops there and in this day and age it is very easy to drift away from those things. It is important to love our neighbor as ourselves but it is most important to love the Lord our God more than ourselves which is clearly stated in Mark 12:30-31. The reason why the person in the song went through all those things is because he wasn’t known of having a God that loves him for who he is (Romans 12:3). God doesn’t love us for our wealth, fame, or fortune. That person was blinded by the material things that don’t even matter but the one and only thing that matters most is our relationship with God and our willingness to put our faith in Him and follow Him no matter how deep the waters may
