If a Thought Police comes by, the two walk away from each other. They start talking in the middle of the sentence the next time they meet. Julia and Winston were basically “talking in installments.” (page 142) With the government looking down on everything it is hard for them to do anything. So they would have to be extra careful with the Thought Police. If they were to be seen together at that time they would have been torture like they were later in the book. Looking back in the book 1984 there were many issues that were happening such as Winston and Julia are put in a cage, Room 101 and how bad it was, and Winston and Julia being careful when talking to each other. But, there were many other issues that happened in the book also. We can tell that Winston really loves Julia and he would do anything to be with her and talk to her. But, when Winston’s fear really did come true he had to turn the table and blame everything on Julia so he wouldn’t get killed.
