The r-word is unnecessary in the world we now live in. There are terms such as mentally disabled or mentally handicapped which describe the person’s ability. There are different adjectives that can be used in place of “retard” such as stupid, dumb, and moronic which are more appropriate. “Retard” is not even used in the medical field, so why do some people think it’s ok to use “retard” to describe anything, no matter if it’s a person or movie. “Retard” is outdated it was used as a medical diagnosis in the 20th century, but quickly evolved into a slang word. You wouldn’t use a person’s name who is disabled in place of the word “retard” so why do you use the word at all.
