Formatting Investments
Save your work frequently!
1. Start Excel and open the Unformatted Investments.xls workbook.
2. Save the file as Formatted Investments-Your Initials.xls, where Your Initials are the initials of your name.
3. Merge and Center the contents of cell A1 across columns A through I, increase the Font Size to 12 and make the Font Bold.
4. Insert a blank column to the left of column A.
5. Change the formatting for cells E5 through I5 to Wrap Text. For cells A1 through K15, use the Format Cells dialog box to place a thin line double border as the outline of the cell range.
6. For cells E5 through J14, use the Format Cells dialog box place a thick border as the outline of the cell range. Place single thin lines in the inside portions of the range.
7. Place a Thick Bottom Line border in cells E5 through J5 and E13 through J13.
8. Change the Page setup to center the data on the printed page horizontally. Create a custom footer with Your Name in the left section, the page number in Page 1 of ? format in the center section and the text, “Printed on:”, followed by today’s date using the Date button in the right section. Change the formatting of each section to something different than the default (the default is Arial, Regular, 10 with no special formatting).
9. Align cells C5 through C7 and cell C14 to the left Place a Thick Box Border around the cell ranges B5 through C8 and B11 through C14.
10. Place a thick border as the outline of cell C3 and bold the contents of cell C3.
11. Change the font color of the contents of cell C14 to red.
12. Change the fill color of cells A1 through K1 to Gray-25%. Change the font color of the contents of cell B1 to blue.
13. Change the width of columns A and K to 4.
14. Change the tab color of the Semi-Annual sheet to blue (column 6, row 2), and the tab color of the Monthly sheet to yellow (column 3, row 4).
15. Save your work.
16. Print the worksheet.
