Tinekhu Khola Small Hydropower Project (TKSHP) with an Installed Capacity of 990 kW utilizes flow from Tinekhu Khola which is located at Suri and Jhyaku VDC’s of Dolakha District, Janakpur zone in Eastern Development Region of Nepal. Tinekhu Khola Small Hydropower Project (The Project) is Run off River (RoR) type with its headworks located in Tinekhu River at some 3 km upstream from the confluence of Tamakoshi River and Tinekhu River. The distance to the intake site from Singati Bazaar is about 6 km north-east. The powerhouse is located along the left bank of Tamakoshi River, some 100 m upstream from the confluence of Tamakoshi River with Tinekhu River. There is a bridge over Tamakoshi River near powerhouse and a seasonal road up to the forebay area.
The entire project area (headworks to powerhouse) is located in Suri and Jhakhu VDC’s of Dolakha District along the right bank of Tinekhu River. Geographically, the project area is located between the longitudes 86º10’45”E to 86º12’06”E and latitude 27º44’07”N to 27º45’15”N. Physio-graphically, the project area belongs to the Middle Mountain Zone and elevation ranges from 980 meter above mean sea level (amsl) to 1400 m amsl along the upper catchment boundary.
According to the hydrological study, the design discharge of 0.35 m3/s is about 57% exceedence river flow. Thus with a gross head of 412 m and net head of 392.01 m and 0.35 m3/s design flow at 74.5% efficiency the installed capacity will be 990 KW. The net annual energy generation at delivery point (i.e., substation at Singati) is expected to be about 6.60 GWh. The dry season energy is 1.71 GWh and wet season energy is 4.890 GWh.
The total project development cost is 193 Million NPR including Interest During Construction (IDC) and the construction period is estimated to be 23 months. Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been made on 8th Aswin 2069. The land acquisition on the project site has already been

The main problem in the construction of the Dulhasti Power Plant Project is the project cost estimation and delivery. The project was based on a straight concept: Dilhasti was designed as a 390MW hydroelectric power plant to be built on Chenab River in the Doda region, The project was supposed to build a hydroelectric generating station, and string hundreds of miles of transmission lines starting near the headwaters of a system of rivers flowing onto the plain south of the mountain region.…

In developing countries like ours Grid power is either inadequate or unavailable in the remote and inac move the need for long and inefficient transmission lines. If a suitable water source is available nearby, Micro-hydro is one of the reasonable and cost effective energy technologies to be considered for rural electrification. Hydroelectric systems having capacity of 100kW or smaller are considered as Micro-hydro power. It allows the utilization of hydroelectric potential of small rivers without any significant costs on dams and civil structures. It is generally of run of river type.…

Dams of India have been built across many perennial rivers since the independence of India. These dams in India are a part of several multi-purpose projects to serve a variety of needs. In a multi-purpose project, a river forms a unit and a river valley is developed, by exploiting all the resources of the river. Basically, dams are built to harness the river water so that it can be utilised according to the needs. A multipurpose project is launched often for storing water for irrigation purposes, generating hydro-electricity by utilising the water stored by the dams, preventing floods and facilitating afforestation in the catchments areas of the reservoirs. Moreover, the dams also provide drinking water, using the canals for navigation in some areas and also facilitating pisciculture and recreational activities. The main multipurpose projects constituting Indian dams are the Hirakud Dam in Orissa, the Bhakra-Nangal Project in Punjab, the Damodar Valley Project in Bihar and West Bengal, the Tungabhadra Project in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, the Rihand Project in Uttar Pradesh.…
