The program for instance, dictates that nurses are involved in decision making processes on the quality of care their patients receive the practice of nursing. It also dictates that nurses should have a healthy and safe working environment. A safe environment working environment not only keeps the nurses safe but also the patients thus reducing the number of work related injuries in the organization. A healthcare organization that is designated pathway to Excellence is also required to have systems in place to address patient care and practice concerns. This is because they demonstrate to the staff and their communities as a whole that they are dedicated to providing the best quality care and working environments. This way they are able to attract more patients and he best healthcare workers to their organizations. As organizations strive to get Magnet status and Pathway of Excellence recognition, they significantly improve their quality of care and adopt top notch healthcare practices which makes them better placed to achieve Nursing Excellence.
